The theme is Western Heritage. Only artwork fitting into this theme will be accepted.


Students in Kindergarten through 12th grade may participate in this judged event.


1. 2 dimensional work only

2. Artwork must be received by October 3rd, 2008. No work will be accepted after this deadline.

3 This is a judged event. Ribbons will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place participants in each grade level category.

4. A student may submit only one entry.

5. Only one student may work on any one entry.

6. Artwork must be mounted or matted on white or black poster board or mat board.

7. Dimensions may not exceed 20”x26” nor be less than 8”x10 ½” –including mat.

8. Artwork not mounted or matted will not be exhibited.

9. Media: graphite, construction paper, ink, cloth, oil, tempera, acrylic, pastels, crayons, watercolor, digital media, and photography (not accepted: glass, mosaic, sand, glitter, dried peas/corn, etc.) Please make sure work is completely dry at submission.

10. Work must be original—no work copied from a magazine or book, illustrations, or published photographs.

11. Artwork must be identified on the front lower right with the name of the artist, grade, title, medium and school and teacher.

12. Artwork must have contact information on the back which lists school, teacher, phone # and email address, and parent contact information. This facilitates the return of the artwork to the artist!

13. Entries by the same teacher should be submitted together in a portfolio with the inventory form attached to the front to facilitate the return of all items.

14. Submitting Entries: 6 per teacher (elementary, middle and high school)

All art work can be dropped off in advance at RJ Richey Elementary (BCISD) or at Treasures on the Square –please notify Samantha prior to drop-off. Art work can also be mailed, if necessary, to Samantha Melvin, Fine Arts, RJ Richey Elementary, 500 E. Graves, Burnet, TX 78611. Please submit artwork in a sturdy portfolio. Deadline for submission is October 3rd, 2008.
